Beaches of the Costa Brava

Portixol

Beach of Portixtol, Empuries

Located next to the Empúries seafront promenade and the entrance to the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia-Empúries, the beach boasts a spectacular setting. It's well worth taking a stroll up the wooden steps to the right, which lead to a wonderful viewpoint overlooking the Bay of Roses, the Empúries coastline, and the town of L'Escala. Further up, you can see the Portitxol Arch, a striking and well-known rock formation. The beach stretches for 255 meters, has fine sand, and is backed by the historic Empúries Gate.

Calella

Calella de Palafrugell

All the villages that make up Palafrugell have their own charm, but when you visit Calella de Palafrugell, you'll discover that it has a truly special sound. The waves of the Mediterranean resonate in this town that has preserved its maritime spirit like no other. On its beaches and coves—true hidden paradises—silence, calm, and tranquility reign. And music fills the air on summer nights with the traditional Habanera Singing and the prestigious Cap Roig Festival, two events that, in this stunningly beautiful setting, become an unmissable experience.

Cadaqués

Cadaqués, Cap de Creus

The name Cadaqués is inextricably linked to the Mediterranean, to some of the most iconic beaches and coves of the Costa Brava; to the spectacular landscape of the Cap de Creus Natural Park; to the tranquility of a town where its maritime character is palpable; and to the important artists and intellectuals who have found their paradise of inspiration here, such as the Empordà genius of Surrealism, Salvador Dalí, in Portlligat. If you visit Cadaqués, the name of this town will forever be intertwined with you.

Local markets

The markets open early and are much more than just a place to buy food; they're a combination of socializing and a festive atmosphere. They sell almost everything: fruits and vegetables, local specialties, cheeses, eggs, meat and fish, flowers and plants, livestock, clothing, textiles, hardware, and handicrafts. Keep in mind, though, that they close around 1 p.m., so ideally you should have an early breakfast, stroll through the stalls mid-morning, shop with gusto, enjoy a snack on a sunny terrace, and then head home to savor your purchases.
