Charming places
Girona
Just 20 minutes away, in the provincial capital, you will discover this incredible city which is home to one of the largest ancient Jewish quarters in Europe, a magnificent old town and an exceptional cathedral, where you can see many scenes filmed for "Game of Thrones".
Peratallada
40 minutes away, it was declared a Historical-Artistic Site for being one of the most important and best preserved centers of medieval architecture in Spain.
Empuries
20 minutes away, they are some of the most important Greco-Roman remains in Spain. The area is made up of a sunken plain through which the Ter and Fluviá rivers pass. It is not a single nucleus but three different ones: Palaiápolis, Neápolis and Roman City. It is located in front of the sea.
Besalú
35 minutes away, Besalú reveals an architectural and urban structure quite coherent with the medieval past. The monumental importance of Besalú is fundamentally given by its great value as a whole, by its unity, which determines it as one of the most important and unique examples of medieval complexes in Catalonia.
The Volcanoes of Olot and the forest of Jordà
55 minutes away, the best-known and most visited volcanoes (all extinct) are Santa Margarita, Croscat and the Montsacopa volcano, also known as Sant Francesc. The Croscat is famous because the land is “cut” and you can perfectly appreciate the geological strata, with the Olotense Botanical Garden of Natural Vegetation at its foot. The Jordá beech forest also arouses great interest, an immense beech forest, ideal for strolling, whether on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or in a carriage.
Pals
35 minutes away, Located in the Baix Empordà region, Pals has become one of the most admired towns on the Costa Brava, and a visit of at least one day is essential. As you walk, you will find the Plaza Mayor, the Visigothic tombs, the church, the castle, the Les Hores tower, the wall and the Josep Pla viewpoint, from where you can contemplate the beauty of the Empordà plain dominated by the Montgrí massif. with the Medes Islands in the background. Pals is a magical place, cradle of experiences and popular legends that never leave the visitor indifferent.
Castelló d’Empuries
30 minutes away, Castelló d’Empúries had its maximum splendor during the Middle Ages, when the counts of Empúries established their residence here and it became the capital of the county. Its architectural jewel is the church of Santa María (13th century), known as the Empordà cathedral. A walk through its narrow, cobblestone streets will make you feel like you’re in a postcard. You can’t miss the Terra de Trobadors Festival, one of the longest-running medieval fairs in Catalonia.
Palau-Sator
40 minutes away, The municipal area of Palau-Sator is made up of the small towns of Palau-Sator, Fontclara, Sant Julià de Boada, Sant Feliu de Boada and the neighborhood of Pantaleu. The walled enclosure is a very good example of the urban layout of an old medieval town. To access it you have to cross the Torre de Les Hores, and throughout the town you can still see remains of walls and the structure of the streets.
Beaches of the Costa Brava
Beach of Portixtol, Empuries
Located next to the Empúries seafront promenade and the entrance to the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia-Empúries, the beach boasts a spectacular setting. It's well worth taking a stroll up the wooden steps to the right, which lead to a wonderful viewpoint overlooking the Bay of Roses, the Empúries coastline, and the town of L'Escala. Further up, you can see the Portitxol Arch, a striking and well-known rock formation. The beach stretches for 255 meters, has fine sand, and is backed by the historic Empúries Gate.
Calella de Palafrugell
All the villages that make up Palafrugell have their own charm, but when you visit Calella de Palafrugell, you'll discover that it has a truly special sound. The waves of the Mediterranean resonate in this town that has preserved its maritime spirit like no other. On its beaches and coves—true hidden paradises—silence, calm, and tranquility reign. And music fills the air on summer nights with the traditional Habanera Singing and the prestigious Cap Roig Festival, two events that, in this stunningly beautiful setting, become an unmissable experience.
Cadaqués, Cap de Creus
The name Cadaqués is inextricably linked to the Mediterranean, to some of the most iconic beaches and coves of the Costa Brava; to the spectacular landscape of the Cap de Creus Natural Park; to the tranquility of a town where its maritime character is palpable; and to the important artists and intellectuals who have found their paradise of inspiration here, such as the Empordà genius of Surrealism, Salvador Dalí, in Portlligat. If you visit Cadaqués, the name of this town will forever be intertwined with you.
Aiguablava, Begur
It's the southernmost beach in Begur, and the surrounding area is lined with restaurants, shops, and other services. You barely need to leave the sand to access it. It has accessible restrooms and showers and offers the opportunity to enjoy various water sports, including a diving center. With its fine sand, this beach is almost twice as wide as it is long (measuring approximately 40 meters by 80 meters). To get there, simply follow the numerous signs to the Aiguablava bus stop, located on the cliff right next to it. There's a parking lot nearby, which is paid parking during the summer.

Local markets
The markets open early and are much more than just a place to buy food; they're a combination of socializing and a festive atmosphere. They sell almost everything: fruits and vegetables, local specialties, cheeses, eggs, meat and fish, flowers and plants, livestock, clothing, textiles, hardware, and handicrafts. Keep in mind, though, that they close around 1 p.m., so ideally you should have an early breakfast, stroll through the stalls mid-morning, shop with gusto, enjoy a snack on a sunny terrace, and then head home to savor your purchases.
